Soccer Goes to the Wire with Eagles

Image

PROVO -- No. 15 BYU (9-0-1) struggled to recover from an emotional victory over No. 9 California, ending in a 0-0 draw with Eastern Washington (1-6-2) Saturday evening at South Stadium.

The Cougars dominated the game offensively, out shooting Eastern Washington 30-4, including a 12-2 advantage in shots on goal, but never found the back of the net. Eagle goalkeeper Tiera Como saved the ball 12 times.

"It's disappointing for a tie," head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. "We came out strong and then fizzled at the end of the first half, but for the most part we played well. We just couldn't finish."

BYU travels to the valley of the sun this weekend to take on two Arizona teams. The Cougars play Arizona State, Friday and No. 21 Arizona on Saturday. Both games are slated to begin at 6 p.m. (MDT).
