PROVO -- Thirteenth ranked BYU was surprised by Tennessee on their home field Saturday in a 2-1 loss.

Tennessee struck early with a goal five minutes into the game. The visting Volunteers sealed the victory with a late goal with only 11 minutes left on the clock. Kim Devine finally put BYU on the scoreboard with a goal off an assist from Aleisha Cramer four minutes left in the game to avoid the shutout

Possession was the key to the closely called game. BYU had 16 fouls to Tennessee's 17. BYU only had seven shots total with many of those in the last ten minutes of the game.

"We didn't show up to play today," said BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "It was very disappointing because we can't win when we finally start playing at the end of the game down 2-0."

Coming up for the Cougars is the University of Minnesota at Northwestern on September 8th at 3:30 p.m.
