TUCSON, Ariz. - BYU gymnastics scored a 196.025 to finish second in a quad meet against nationally-ranked Arizona, Texas Woman's University and Bridgeport.

This marks the third time the Cougars have earned a 196 or better this season, a feat that was last achieved in 2005.

Arizona (196.425) took first in the meet. Texas Woman's (194.575) finished in third and Bridgeport (193.675) rounded out the group.

Senior Raquel Willman Hatch tied with Allison Flores from Arizona for the best all-around score in the meet as they each notched a 39.225.

BYU began on the beam where Emily Vidmar and Megan Bain Tidwell each contributed a 9.700 to give the team a starting score of 48.250.

The Cougars then recorded a 49.375 team score on the floor routine, their best score of the season. Makenzie Johnson and Vidmar each posted a 9.900 while Hatch added a 9.875 to lead the team. Vidmar's 9.900 was the best score of her career as was KayCee Gassaway's 9.850.

Next, the team set another season-high score, this time on the vault with a 49.175. Jordan Schult (9.800) and Johnson (9.875) both tied their personal bests on the vault while Eliane Kulczyk led the way with a 9.900.

Career-high numbers from Kulczyk (9.875) and Vidmar (9.850) helped BYU post a 49.225 score on the bars, the best by any team in the meet. Tidwell tied her season-best score with a 9.825 to help the Cougars on their final event.

BYU returns to Provo to compete in the first Mountain Rim Gymnastics Championship meet at the Marriott Center on Saturday March 22.
