Todd Watkins transferred to BYU from Grossmont Junior College after helping the Griffins to a No. 3 national junior college ranking. Watkins went on to earn All-Mountain West Conference First Team honors as a junior after leading the conference with 1,042 yards. That year, he set the MWC junior single-game receiving record with 211 yards at Boise State as well as the conference single-season record, averaging 94.7 yards per game.
