Born in Tonga...parents are Moana and Faleola...attended BYU-Hawai`i campus for two semesters...likes to play basketball and golf...married to the former Carey Sa`aga in December, 1991...they have two sons Tre and Tyrel and two daughters, Teilissa and Teisa who was born March, 2000...has three brothers and three sisters, Kelepi (played for BYU) Lio, Valu, Nia, and Lusi...cousin is BYU teammate Kalani Fifita Sitake...graduated in April 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology...is currently working on a Masters degree in Special Education.

Before BYU

Lettered three times in football at Kahuku High where he backed up BYU All-American Itula Mili as a tight end...also played safety... most Valuable Polynesian Senior Athlete for his team as a senior...played in all-star games against California and in the East-West game...coached by Doug Semones (Cal-Lutheran).

Freshman Year

Sophmore Year 1998

Caught three passes for 66 yards in the Blue/White Game...started in 12 of the Cougars' 14 games...caught 19 passes for a career-high 264 yards, averaging 13.9 yards per reception...named coaches' receiver of the game vs. Alabama...scored the Cougars' first offensive touchdown of the season on a 10-yard pass from Feterik (vs. Alabama)...lead all BYU receivers with 47 yards on four receptions (vs. Wash)...recorded second touchdown of the season on a 10-yard strike from Feterik in BYU's 31-14 win over UTEP.

Junior Year 1999

One of the three tight ends used by the Cougars...played in all 11 regular-season games as a junior...led all Cougar tight ends with 21 receptions for 284 yards, averaging 13.5 yards per reception and 25.8 yards per game...caught two touchdown passes during the season, including a fourth-quarter TD at Utah State that extended the BYU lead to 31-20 as the Cougars held on for the 34-31 overtime victory...scored a 28-yard touchdown reception against Cal, giving BYU an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter...posted a season-high 71 yards receiving against Utah State...recorded four straight games with 40 or more yards during the season, including Virginia (41), Utah State (71), California (56), and New Mexico (46)...had two receptions for 19 yards against Marshall in the Motor City Bowl...earned coaches' award for performances against Utah State and New Mexico.

Senior Year 2000

All-Mountain West Conference Second Team...Las Vegas Review Journal All-MWC Second Team...The Sporting News All-MWC Second Team...caught 22 passes for 305 yards, averaging 13.9 yards a catch and 25.4 per game...named coaches receiver of the game against UNLV and Wyoming...against Wyoming had four catches for 41 yards...had three passes for 75 yards...had a season-long 32-yard reception versus Virginia.
