Parents are Don and Gail...major is physical therapy...enjoys water skiing and snowboarding in his spare time...served an LDS mission to Tampa, Fla....married to the former Jessica Adams on Aug. 1, 1998...has one daughter Samantha...recruited by BYU, Michigan, Nebraska, USC, Washington, Arizona State, Utah and Texas.

Before BYU

A Blue Chip All-American...three-time all-state selection...two-time state MVP...twice named Gatorade Athlete of the Year for Utah...named the USA Today Player of the Year for Utah as a senior...led his team to a 23-1 record and region and state championships while at West High...was considered the top recruit out of the state of Utah...was a four-sport star, earning letters in football, track, wrestling and baseball...three-time state wrestling champion ...named first-team all-state in baseball... named all-state in track three times.

Other College

Played two years at Michigan...saw action at both linebacker and special teams as a deep snapper...was a member of the 1997 National Championship team at Michigan.

Junior Year 1999

Participated in spring drills...played in 8-of-11 regular-season games as a junior, starting two games at weak-side linebacker and four games at middle linebacker...recorded 36 tackles, including 15 unassisted and 21 assisted tackles...ranked second on the team with two interceptions...earned coaches' top linebacker award in games against Colorado State and Utah State...missed the last three games of the season with a torn ACL.

Senior Year 2000

Saw light duty during spring drills as a deep snapper on special teams. Played in one game for the Cougars before suffering a serious knee injury Florida State...had three tackles against Florida State, including two unassisted...came back to deep snap against Virginia and UNLV.
