Graduated from Orem High in 1986...All-Region quarterback...quarterback for state 3A-4A All-Star Game...lettered in football and baseball...coached by Steve Downey.

Attended Snow College for two years...threw six TD passes in one game...against BYU JV he was 35 of 67 in one game for 421 yards...listed in top 100 recruits...ranked top passer in JC for yards, touchdown passes, total offense and passing efficiency...All-ICAC, All-WSFL, All-Region and All-American...coached by Paul Tidwell.
Returned from his church mission in the summer before two-a-days...played one quarter of the New Mexico game where he was six of eight for 68 yards...was four of nine in passing for one TD against Texas A&M in the Holiday Bowl...played the final 12 minutes of the third quarter and all of the fourth quarter in the Holiday Bowl because of shoulder separations to Ty Detmer.
