Graduated in 1989 from Payson High...earned three letters in football, two in basketball and four in track...all-state in football...regional champion in both 400 meters and long-jump...state champion in 4x100 relay...coached by Bart Peery.

Played two years at Snow College...second team all-conference as a freshman...first team all-conference as a sophomore...NJCAA Academic All-America.
Led BYU with 15 tackles against Ohio State in the Holiday Bowl...did not play the first two games of the season as coaches contemplated a redshirt year...started the final six games at weak safety...selected by the staff as top defensive back against Notre Dame when he had five unassisted tackles and four assisted tackles...11 tackles and a QB hurry against Fresno State...12 tackles against Utah.
