Personal

Teammates call him Nick...parents are Oldrich and Ivana...twin brother Daniel is a starting defensive tackle for Cal-Fullerton...only played football since 1981 after his family left Czecholslovakia...learned about football from watching "Brian's Song" in Prague...not recruited out of high school, but following junior college he was sought after by SMU, San Diego State and UNLV...majoring in physical education with a nutrition minor.

Before BYU

Arrived at Orange High School as a junior where he made the president's honor roll...lettered once in football and wrestling...helped team break a 22-game losing streak...voted most improved in football and was all-league as a wrestling heavyweight...coached by Bill Brashears (Whittier).

Other College

1983-85 - Played for state champion Fullerton JC where he helped them to a pair of conference titiles in 1983-85 and was all-conference as a sophomore. 

1986 - Played three games in the 1986 season for Southern Methodist University before injuring his knee.
