Named Hawai`i all-state player of the year in 1982 ... won back of the year honors ... lettered in both football and track at Kahuku High ... football team was state runnerup in 1982 ... voted outstanding student-athlete for Hawai`i and went to New York to receive the award ... coached by Clarence Lavarias (Hawai`i).

Saw lots of playing time with the varsity, usually last in the game ... played some with the jayvee, averaging 4.46 yards per carry.

Sophmore Year 1984

Honorable mention All-WAC ... BYU's leading rusher with 796 yards and nine touchdowns ... averaged 5.04 yards per carry ... caught 31 passes for 242 yards ... rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns vs. New Mexico ... had 117 yards on 17 carries vs. Utah ... rushed for 82 yards on 16 carries in the Holiday Bowl vs. Michigan ... was back of the week vs. Tulsa, Hawai`i, New Mexico and Utah ... scored BYU;s first TD of the year on a 12-yard run at Pittsburgh
