Parents are Ray and Manuela...recruited by Tennessee, Kansas, SMU, Purdue, Florida, Wake Forest, Northern Illinois, Western Illinois and Illinois State.

Before BYU

Made all-conference at both offensive and defensive tackles at Bloom High...won honorable mention all-state honors...captain of the football team...lettered four years in football...also a competitive power lifter.

BYU Hall of Fame

Freshman Year 1984

Broke his foot for the third time early in the season but returned to see lots of action with the varsity, starting with the Colorado State game.

Sophmore Year 1985

Started at the offensive guard position, but injured his knee in the Boston College game and did not return to the lineup until Temple.

Junior Year 1986

Second team All-WAC...started every game...played center during the Oregon State game...offensive lineman of the week vs. Washington, Colorado State, Hawai'i and San Diego State...co-lineman of the week vs. Utah.
