Parents are Hal and Joyce...served a two-year LDS mission to Arcadia, California...actively recruited by Tulsa, Wichita State and Texas Arlington...younger brother, Doug, also plays for BYU...majoring in business management.

Before BYU

Lettered three years in both football and basketball and two years in baseball...was named all-state in football, honorable mention in basketball, all-conference, all-city and all-metro in football...coached by Larry Ballard (Oklahoma State).

BYU Hall of Fame

Freshman Year 1982

Returned from his mission and switched to center...played a lot with the jayvee.

Sophmore Year 1983

Moved to offensive guard...saw lots of varsity action...recovered an on-side kick vs. Utah State.

Junior Year 1984

Saw a lot of action until sustaining a knee injury in practice before the Hawai'i game that knocked him out for the year.

Senior Year 1985

Missed spring practice.
