Father is Alexander...married to Julie Byers...served an LDS mission to Cordoba, Argentina ('80-'82)...nickname is Bobby Sal...majoring in geology and minoring in Spanish.

Before BYU

Prepped at Cardinal Newman High in Santa Rosa...his high school still holds the state record for 47 consecutive victories...was All-Redwood Empire and all-league...was voted most improved player on the team...also played wide receiver in addition to safety...only 250 students are enrolled at Cardinal Newman, but Rob helped the team win the state 3A title four years in a row...coached by Ed Lloyd (Occidental College).

Other College

Played two years at Santa Rosa Junior College on the same squad as former BYU player Homer Jones...played in the same league as BYU's Eric Lane...in 1977 and 1978 he was all-state and All-America...was MVP and the top defensive player for his squad which won the '78 California Junior College Championship...actively recruited by 150 colleges.
