Parents are Randy and Sharlene Christensen ... father is the late Kelly Ward ... older brother played baseball at the College of Eastern Utah and younger brother plays at UVSC ... married to Sarah Mason ... majoring in business management.

At BYU

SENIOR: Got his only start in a 4-3 victory in a televised game to close the Hawai`i series ... got his win against the University of Pacific by throwing three-plus innings and allowing only one hit ... picked up his save in three strong innings in BYU's MWC Tourney opener against the Air Force Academy ... his loss was came in a 6-5 decision at Texas Tech ... against Southern Utah he had a perfect relief effort by going 2.1 innings without allowing a runner to reach first base in a 12-3 victory ... retired the only three batters he faced in one inning of relief to help BYU to an upset over No. 15 Cal State Northridge in the NCAA post-season. JUNIOR: Recorded team-best 2.91 ERA and four saves while pitching in 17 games in 2001 ... posted a 0-2 record with 17 strikeouts ... his saves came against Air Force, Utah, Kentucky and San Francisco.

Before BYU

Was a quarterback for Spanish Fork High ... lettered twice in football and three times in baseball ... Dons went 22-5 his senior year and team finished second in state ... hit .300 with two homers and was 5-3 with a 3.50 ERA ... had 110 varsity strikeouts in his career ... was an honor-roll student ... coached by Jim "Shoe" Nelson ... recruited by Hawai'i, Mesa State, Lewis-Clark State and Southern Utah.

Other College

Was second-team All-SWAC in 2000 at Utah Valley State ... had a 9-2 record with a 1.76 ERA, and three saves in 51 innings with 57 strikeouts in 2000 ... as a sophomore he had 20 appearances and 16 finishes ... had four saves, 32 strikeouts and a 1-4 record as a freshman ... was a teammate of former BYU player Seth King and current Cougar Ryan Adams at UVSC ... coached by Steve Gardner (Weber State).
