Olmstead announces addition of transfer Thunstrom
PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s volleyball head coach Heather Olmstead has announced the addition of transfer setter Kalia Thunstrom.
A 5-foot-10 junior, Thunstrom has spent the last two seasons in Logan at Utah State. Playing in 41 sets between the 2021 and 2022 seasons, she recorded 163 assists, 69 digs, three kills and three service aces for the Aggies.
Thunstrom is a Murrieta Mesa High School graduate out of Murrieta, California, and holds the career, single-season and single-match ace records, as well as the single-season assist record at Murrieta Mesa. She also played five club seasons with Forza 1.
The transfer setter will join four members of the Cougars’ 2023 recruiting class on campus beginning in BYU's winter semester: outside hitter Addison Benson, setter Silina Damuni, middle blocker/opposite hitter Mia Lee and libero Brielle Miller.
