PACIFIC -- Despite a strong effort by McCall Jones and Megan Price, the sophomore duo fell 9-7 to the No. 8 pair from Baylor in the quarterfinals at the ITA All-American Championships.

“In this tournament, our players saw that they are as good as the best teams in the nation,” BYU assistant coach Lauren Jones Spencer said. “They saw that they belong at the top.”

Jones and Price, who are ranked No. 29 in the preseason poll, got ahead of Lenka Broosova and Csilla Borsanyi to begin the match. But the seniors showed their strength, coming back to clinch the 9-7 win.

In the consolation round of the singles qualifying draw, Jones handily defeated TCU’s Kayla Duncan 6-2, 6-0 to earn a place in the finals. The match-worn Cougar fought hard but fell 7-6, 6-4.

Spencer noted that Jones endured many physical ailments during the match, her 14th in the last week.

The tournament will continue through Sunday. To see updated results and completed draws, click here.
