
Netters Head to California for Tourney

PROVO -- Women’s tennis will continue the season at the Cal Nike Invitational in Berkeley, Calif. this weekend. The three-day tournament begins Friday at the Hellman and Channing Tennis Complexes.
The Cougars will compete against top-notch players from Arizona State, Fresno State, Long Beach State, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Pacific, Sacramento State, Saint Mary’s, Santa Clara, UC Davis, UCLA and USC. BYU will also be able to see future opponents as both Arizona State and Fresno State are on the schedule for March.
Players will compete in one of three singles flights-Blue, Gold or White. In singles, the Blue and Gold flights will feature 32 competitors each while the White will have 12. Partners will also be separated into three flights for doubles competition.
This will be the second tournament of the fall season for BYU and the first test for freshman Andie Young. Joining Young will be BYU veterans Kristina Doerr and Chie Hayasaka and returning letterwinners Elle Carney, Liza Ezhova, Romina Nedakovic, Megan Price and McCall Jones.
