PROVO -- In their usual dominating fashion, the No. 20-ranked BYU women's tennis team put on an impressive show inside the Indoor Tennis Facility Friday afternoon defeating No. 73 Kansas 7-0. With the win, the Cougars move to 6-2 on the season.

The Cougars got an early jump on the Jayhawks by winning the doubles point. Posting wins for BYU at the No. 1 and 3 spots were duos; Barbora Zahnova and Hadley Macfarlane; and Nicole Schneider and Rebecca Pike.

In singles play, the top four seeds for BYU took their first sets against Kansas. The first Cougar off the court was Zahnova, who defeated Courtney Steinbock of Kansas in two straight sets 6-1, 6-1, followed by freshman Jones who took care of her opponent in two as well.

In a hard fought match at the No. 2 spot, Holden rallied from behind in her first set, but took the second, only allowing four sets to her opponent. Holden's win over Emily Haylock gave the Cougars the win and a 4-0 advantage overall.

Fourth seeded Olga Boulytcheva closed out her match in two posting a 6-2, 6-3 win over Brittany Brown of Kansas.

The quickest match of the afternoon belonged to the Australian junior, Rebecca Pike. Pike got an early lead on her opponent, dishing Luiza Loureir from Brazil, nothing but a saucer of love, posting a 6-0 set. In the second set, Pike only allowed Loureir one of the six games finishing her Jayhawk opponent off in two quick sets.

In the final match of the afternoon, BYU's Macfarlane, walked away with a 6-4, 6-3 victory to give the Cougars their second 7-0 match of the season.

"Winning and losing takes care of itself," head coach Craig Manning said. "We showed good discipline today and that made a big difference. All I'm trying to get them to do is be better tennis players, and I think they're doing that."

The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow as they host the Denver Pioneers at Noon in the Indoor Tennis Facility.
