PROVO -- The first game of the 2003 regular season for BYU Women's Soccer a 90-minute lightning delay, double overtime, and the largest crowd in South Stadium history, No. 24 BYU and No. 17 Michigan played to 0-0 tie.

Throughout the game the Cougars fought hard against the Wolverines, out shooting Michigan 13-5 on the night.

"I thought we played outstanding," said BYU women's head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "We were just unlucky that we couldn't find the back of the net."

For the Cougars, the freshmen tandem of Claire Thomas and Nicole Jensen turned in strong performances as the two defenders managed to consistently stop the Wolverine's attempts at a goal.

The record crowd of 2,191 fans, broke the previous record of 2,172 set on Nov. 9, 1996 against San Diego State in the Western Athletic Conference Championship game that BYU won to record the program's first conference title.

The Cougars host Colgate on Saturday, Aug. 30 at South Stadium at 7:00 p.m. (MDT)
