Wade earns WCC Offensive Player of the Week honor
SAN MATEO, Calif. — BYU women's soccer midfielder Olivia Wade was named West Coast Conference (WCC) Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The Cougars played two conference games last week, beating San Francisco 6-0 and tying Pacific 1-1. An offensive force on the field, Wade scored a goal in both games, furthering her tally to five goals on the season. She also had season-highs of seven shots and two assists against the Dons. Wade’s goal against Pacific on Saturday was the only BYU goal against the Tigers, moving the Cougars to 1-0-2 in conference play.
Wade has the second-highest number of goals on the season with five, just behind Brecken Mozingo with seven. She has also tallied three assists and 33 shots for a total of 13 points. The Kaysville, Utah native has started all 12 of BYU's games this season, and has played the full 90-minutes in eight of them. With Jamie Shepherd earning the honor in week two, Wade is the second BYU player to win a weekly WCC award this season.
