BYU hosts Missouri for the first time on Saturday at South Field

PROVO, Utah — No. 22 BYU women's soccer will host Missouri on Saturday, Sept. 11 at South Field. It will be the first time in program history that the Tigers have visited Provo and the first time these teams have faced each other.

Saturday’s matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. MDT and can be viewed on byutv.org and the BYUtv app. The game will also be carried live on the BYU Sports Network — BYU Radio 107.9 FM/BYU Cougars App.

IN THE RANKINGS. BYU is ranked No. 22 in the NCAA DI women's soccer poll. Additionally, BYU is ranked No. 20 in the Top Drawer Soccer college soccer national ranking.

LAST TIME ON THE FIELD. On Thursday, the Cougars played the Utah Utes to a 0-0 double-overtime draw. In a physical first half between the two rivals, neither team recorded a shot on goal. BYU, who averages nine shots on goal per game, took 19 shots in 110 minutes and only three of which found the frame. Despite dominating the time of possession, BYU was unable to come away with a victory.

THE TIGERS. The Tigers of Mizzou are 4-2-0 on the season, following a four-game winning streak. Freshman Milena Fischer was named SEC Freshman of the Week after a game-winning assist and a game-winning goal in overtime of contests against Miami and Notre Dame respectively. The Tigers beat Miami 1-0 and Notre Dame 3-2. On Thursday, the Tigers defeated Northern Colorado courtesy of senior forward Skye Kingsley’s goal in the 13th minute. The Tigers finished the 2020-21 season with a 6-5-3 record, and haven't punched a ticket to the NCAA Tournament since 2016.

COUGARS VS. TIGERS. The Cougars and Tigers will meet each other for the first time in program history on Saturday. It is BYU’s third contest against an SEC team this season.
