SAN MATEO, Calif. – Senior defender Josie Gelalich was named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Gelalich led a stifling BYU defense that held Pac 12 rival Utah to just four shots on goal in the Cougars 5-1 victory on Saturday.
The Murrieta, California native played a total of 76 minutes, anchoring a BYU defense that allowed the Utes, a 2019 NCAA Tournament team, just eight offensive attempts while she was in the game.
