Cougars finish second at WCC Championship
BREMERTON, Wash. — BYU women’s golf finished runner-up at the WCC Championship after posting a 5-under total as No. 17 Pepperdine took home the championship by shooting 12 under par.
No. 17 Pepperdine turned in a 12-under total to win the WCC Championship with rounds of 290-283-279—852. BYU earned a runner-up finish after shooting 283-296-290—869 for a 5-over-par 54-hole total.
Gonzaga took third after posting rounds of 294-296-286—876 with San Francisco finishing fourth at 19 over par with scores of 296-294-293—883. Santa Clara rounded out the top 5 with scores of 297-289-303—889 for a 25 over par total.
All five Cougars finished in the top 10 en route to the second-place finish. Adeline Anderson was the low finisher for the Cougars at 2 over par. The sophomore fired rounds of 74-75-69—218 to earn a share of sixth.
Lila Galeai finished one back of Anderson at 3 over par after posting rounds of 71-72-76—219 to tie for eighth. Allysha Mae Mateo, Annick Haczkiewicz and Kerstin Ngakuru each finished in a tie for 10th to round out the scoring for BYU.
Mateo and Haczkiewicz recorded matching scores of 69-77-74—220 for the 54-hole championship while Ngajuru turned in rounds of 75-72-73—220 to finish in the top 10.
The Cougars now await the NCAA Regional selection show on Wednesday, April 26 to learn if they will be heading to one of the six NCAA Regionals.
