PROVO, Utah -- BYU women’s cross country faces another challenging field that includes several ranked teams Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.

“This meet is another opportunity to help ourselves qualify for nationals,” BYU women’s coach Patrick Shane said. “We did some of that last week.”

Last week the Cougars finished ninth among 37 teams at the Griak Invitational. The top-10 finish led to an appearance in the “receiving votes” section of the latest USTFCCCA poll.

Last season, BYU faced similar circumstances coming into the Notre Dame Invitational. The Cougars were ranked just outside the top 25 but were able to run one of the best races of the season finishing above several ranked teams. Shane hopes his team enjoys similar success this time around.

“We are looking forward to this opportunity,” Shane said. “We have been close but we haven’t hit on all cylinders yet.”

Stats will be posted to ustfccca.org following the conclusion of the meet.
