Bailey, Eaton garner AP All-America Honorable Mention citations

PROVO, Utah—BYU’s Morgan Bailey and Lexi Eaton were named 2014-15 AP Women’s All-America Honorable Mention. It is the first All-American honor for both.

Bailey was named the 2015 West Coast Conference Player of the Year, while Eaton was named the 2015 WCC Women’s Basketball Championships MVP last month.

During the 2014-15 campaign, Bailey made the 2015 WCC Championships All-Tournament Team, was named All-WCC Women’s Basketball First Team and picked up two WCC Player of the Week honors. She led the team in rebounds (10.5), was the second leading scorer (17.2) and had the best field goal percentage, .506 (237-468). Bailey finished her BYU career in 20th place in the Cougars’ prestigious 1,000-point club with 1,202 points. She also ranks sixth all-time in career rebounds with 762.

In the WCC, she finished conference play ranked first in field goal percentage, .517 (134-259), first in defensive rebounds (9.1), second in rebounding (10.9) and fourth in scoring (18.0).

Eaton was an All-WCC Women’s Basketball First Team honoree for the second straight year, led the league in scoring (21.4), tied for seventh place in 3-point field goals made (2.1) tied for ninth in assists (3.0) and finished 11th in rebounding (6.8),

On the team, Eaton topped the leaderboard in scoring (20.5), had the best 3-point field goal percentage at .406 (67-165), was second in assists (2.90) and third in rebounding (6.5).

The Cougars finished the 2014-15 campaign with a 23-10 record, clinched their second WCC Championship title in four years, and went to the NCAA tournament for the third time in four years.

The 23 wins are the sixth-straight 20-plus-win season for head coach Jeff Judkins and the ninth of his 14-year tenure at BYU. Judkins picked up his 300th career win with a 77-58 win over Pepperdine on Feb. 5. Bailey’s WCC Player of the Year award marked the third time that a Cougar player has picked up the league’s highest honor since joining the conference in 2011.
