BYU Takes First-Ever Trip to Texas A&M

PROVO -- The BYU women's softball team will travel to College Station, Texas this weekend to play in the Texas A&M tournament against No. 24 Texas A&M and McNeese State twice on Friday and Saturday. This will mark the first-ever meetings between the schools.

Texas A&M is currently 5-3, but has won all three games they have played at home this season. McNeese has not played a single game this season with their first games being cancelled last weekend due to adverse field conditions.

"It's going to be a really good challenge for our team and we look forward to these challenges," head coach Gordon Eakin said. "Oli Keohohou is questionable to play suffering a minor injury this last week and will be a game-time decision whether she plays or not."

The Cougars played four games in the SUU Tournament two weeks ago and recorded wins against St. Mary's (9-0) and Southern Utah (12-8). The Cougars lost close games to No. 23 Oregon State (5-3) and Cal-Poly (8-7). All-American Oli Keohohou hit two home runs during the tournament along with freshman slugger Ashlyn Russell. Freshman Brooke Boyce went 1-0 and saw action in three games during the tournament.
