BYU Softball Kicks Off First Home Season with Dugout Cookout

PROVO -- History will be made this weekend as the BYU softball team takes the field in Provo for the first time ever to host in-state rival University of Utah in a home doubleheader Saturday.

Admission to the event is free, but for $3 spectators may take advantage of the "Dugout Cookout" promotion. In between games, food and games will be provided by 10 area businesses. Those who choose to participate will pick from a selection of Hogi Yogi sandwiches, Teriyaki Stix chicken bowls, popcorn, hot dogs, drinks, brownies, candy bars and cotton candy in addition to other offerings. Balloon animals and helium balloons will also be handed out.

Until construction on the Gail Miller Field is complete next year, the softball team will call Provo's Harmon Park home. The field is located at 950 East 250 South. The games will kick off Saturday at 1 p.m.
