SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the fourth time this season, BYU softball has won West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week with freshman Arissa Paulson earning the nod, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Paulson pitched just one game of the Fresno State Invitational, but she made it count. The freshman picked up her first career win in a complete-game against Sacramento State. She allowed just one run and five hits in the 7-1 victory. She struck out five batters in the game in a career-high 7.0 innings pitched. She is now second on the team in total strikeouts this season with 14 and in innings pitched with 18.2.

The Cougars have taken at least one of the weekly awards every week so far in 2017, including sweeps of both player and pitcher of the week in weeks two and four. Paulson is the third different pitcher to win the award after McKenna Bull has won twice and Kerisa Viramontes took it in week two.

The WCC Player of the Week was awarded to Sara Silveyra from San Diego. To see the full release, head to the WCC’s website.

Pitcher of the Week also nominated: Lauren Berriatua, San Diego
Player of the Week also nominated: Lexi Tarrow, BYU
