Caden Hasler signs with BYU men's tennis

PROVO, Utah — Five-star class of 2023 recruit Caden Hasler has officially joined BYU men's tennis by signing a national letter of intent, head coach Dave Porter announced today.

The 6-foot-2 right-hander from Pleasant Grove, Utah preps at American Fork High School, where he recently won both an individual and team state championship with the Cavemen. He is the No. 24 recruit nationally in the USTA National Rankings and is ranked first in both the Intermountain region and state of Utah.

"We are thrilled to have Caden Hasler join the Cougars as we head into the Big 12 next fall. Although Caden may choose to serve a mission before beginning his playing time at BYU, we are excited to have him impact our team over the next several years," Porter said.

In addition to his 2022 singles and team state titles, Hasler has two doubles national championships. In July 2021 he won the USTA National Clay Court Championship in the Boys’ 16s doubles division with partner Dylan Tsoi. Hasler then won the Boys’ 18s USTA National Doubles Championships with Brandon Carpico in August 2022, where the duo was the No. 1 overall seed.

Hasler is the fifth five-star to commit to the program in the last four recruiting classes, joining Hardy Owen (2022) and current players Dominik Jakovljevic, Alex Lin and Redd Owen (2020). Hardy Owen is currently serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which Hasler is expected to do as well. Hasler will join the team in 2025 upon completion of his service.

Hasler has three younger siblings and is the son of Blair and Holly Hasler. His mother, Holly, is the head coach of the BYU women’s tennis team. Hasler is mainly coached by her and Dillon Porter. He is also coached by BYU men’s tennis alum Georgy Batrakov and his high school coach, Jason Herud.
