Strauss, Edlefsen to compete in U.S. Olympic Team Qualifying Meets

PROVO, Utah  – Diver Mickey Strauss and swimmer Tyler Edlefsen will compete in their respective U.S. Olympic Qualifying Meets in the coming week. 

Only a sophomore, Strauss qualified to compete in the 3-meter springboard event. He will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete against the best in the country. 

The top 18 from prelims will move on to semifinals on the same day. Finals will be held on Saturday and include the top 12 divers from semifinals. Only the top two divers will make the Olympic Team and travel to Toyoko.

Indianapolis, Indiana | IU Natatorium | June 6-13
3-meter: Wednesday, June 9 (Prelims: 10 a.m. CT | Semifinals: 7 p.m. CT) on the Olympic Channel
3-meter Finals: Sunday, June 13 (Finals: 6:35 p.m. CT) on NBC

Also, only a sophomore, Edlefsen, qualified past the Wave I Olympic Meet straight to the Wave II meet. The Nevada native secured fast enough times to surpass the Wave I meet and qualify directly to the Wave II meet. He will compete against the best swimmers in the country in both the 200- and 400-meter medley relay. The top two finishers in the finals will make the Olympic Team.
