Women place first in seven events at time trials

PROVO, Utah – On the final day of the time trial meet against Utah, the BYU women’s swim team took home seven first-place finishes on Saturday morning, Jan. 9 at the Richard Building Pool.

"The women swam very well today and are swimming and cheering for each other," BYU head coach John Brooks said. "The team trained very hard this week and they made all the coaches proud. We are looking forward to two more meets next weekend."

Junior Brynn Sproul broke the pool record in the 100 back with a 55.18 time while Charlotte Fieeiki came in second with a time of 55.31. Sproul also helped a team of Rachel Oyler, Emma Colvin and Gwen Gustafson to the top spot in the 200 free relay with a 1:34.64 time.

Sophomore Katie McBratney added to BYU’s first-place finishes taking the top spot in two events, including the 100 and 200 breast with times of 1:03.13 and 2:20.24, respectively.  Chloe Freeman and Summer Murphy added their own top times to BYU’s tally with wins in the 200 IM and 500 free, respectively.

At the dive invite hosted by Utah, BYU diver Kennedi Cribbs took the top spot in the women's 1-meter with a total score of 596.50. Men’s diver Mickey Strauss took second place in the 3-meter with a score of 705.15.
