Cougars in 4th after day two of Desert Shootout
GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The BYU men's golf team improved to a fourth place standing after day two of the Desert Shootout on Friday.
"We were much more consistent today," BYU golf coach Bruce Brockbank said. "We're still a little sloppy with our short game and not capitlizing very much, but we should have a good chance to win the tournament and the guys are excited about it. We need another day like today, but even better."
BYU finished the second round of the 54-hole tournament at 16-under-par, trailing first place Fullerton by five strokes.
Justin Keiley shot a team low 68 in the second round, while Joe Parkinson and Jordan Hammer each shot a 69 for the round.
Cole Ogden and Jordan Rodgers shot 71 and 74, respectively.
"We've got a hurdle to climb tomorrow, so we'll see how we do," Brockbank said.
The Cougars return to action for the final round at the Palm Valley Golf Club on Saturday with a 7:30 a.m. PST shotgun start. There are no live stats for this tournament.
