NEW ORLEANS — BYU quarterback Jaren Hall was today named to the watch list for the Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The list includes 30 of the top quarterbacks in the nation heading into the 2022 season.

Hall, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound junior from Spanish Fork, Utah, was previously named a 2022 watch list candidate for the Davey O’Brien Award, Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award.

Despite missing three games due to injury in 2021, Hall completed 189 of 296 passes for 2,583 yards and 20 touchdowns, while compiling an efficiency rating of 156.1. He also had 62 carries for 307 yards and three rushing touchdowns, while leading No. 19 ranked BYU to eight wins in his 10 starts in 2021.

At the conclusion of the season, Hall was named Pro Football Network All-Independent Quarterback of the Year and was named to the Phil Steele All-Independent First Team as well as the Pro Football Network All-Independent First Team.

The Manning Award was created to honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the bowl performance of the candidates.

Finalists for the 2022 Manning Award will be selected prior to postseason play with the winner being announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship. The winner is determined by a voting panel, which includes national media as well as Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

In addition to the annual Manning Award, each week during the college football regular season, eight quarterbacks will be recognized as Manning Quarterbacks of the Week. Sixty-seven players from 66 different schools were honored during the 2021 season and 464 different quarterbacks from 129 schools have been recognized since 2011.
