TUCSON -- BYU sophomore Kelli Einfeldt won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 264.35 at the Arizona Diving Invitational, Friday in Tucson.

Einfeldt edged out Kate Morgan of Northern Arizona by about three points to finish in first. She also finished in seventh-place on the 3-meter board with a score of 229.50. For the men, sophomore All-American Aaron Russell finished in second-place on the 3-meter board with a score of 305.95 and finished in sixth-place in the 1-meter event, scoring 274.90 points. Ruben Vaca of Arizona won both the 1-meter and the 3-meter events. Justin Wilcock finished in eight-place on both the 1-meter and the 3-meter board with scores of 248.50 and 256.60, respectively.

The Arizona Diving Invitational continues tomorrow and begins at 10 a.m., with the men's 3-meter.

The women's and the 17th-ranked men's swimming and diving teams will compete against conference opponents Air Force and Wyoming, Friday and Saturday. Friday's competition will begin at 6 p.m. while Saturday's competition will begin at noon. Some of BYU's divers will compete in Provo this weekend against the Falcons and Cowboys while some will be Tucson, Arizona competing in the Arizona Diving Invitational, Friday and Saturday.

Recent Results

vs. Washington

The men's and women's team swept the Huskies with the men winning 142-95 and the women winning 131-108. For the men, Arunas Savickas won the 200 free and set a new pool record while winning the 500 free. Mike Mullen won the 50 free, Gary Tan the 200 back and Jeff Mason the 100 free. For the women, first-place finishers included Heidi Lietz in the 50 free, Codi Jensen in the 1000 free and Amy McClellan in the 200 back.

For the divers, Aaron Russell won the men's 3-meter event while Justin Wilcock won the 1-meter board. For the women, Kelli Einfeldt won both the 1-meter and the 3-meter events.

vs. Utah

The men's and women's team swept the Utes with the men winning 142-95 and the women winning 131-108. For the men, Jeff Mason won the 50 free and the 100 free. Arunas Savickas won the 100 fly, Gary Tan the 200 free, Alex Denke the 500 free, Ryan Ayres the 1650 free and Nick Tobler the 100 breast. For the women, first-place finishers included Amanda Grant in the 200 free, Tamber Covington in the 400 IM, Melissa Thompson in the 100 back and Jennifer Tasker in the 100 breast.

For the divers, Aaron Russell won the men's 1-meter event while Justin Wilcock won the 3 -meter board. For the women, Anna Tutunnikova won the 1-meter board.

Men Swimmers to Watch

Arunas Savickas, senior: Swims back and free. Savickas won the 200 and the 500 free against Washington, and won the 100 fly against Utah. Has conference-best times in the 200 free (1:36.46) and the 500 free (4:21.39).

Gary Tan, sophomore: Swims back and IM. Tan won the 200 back against Washington and the 200 free against Utah. Has conference-best times in the 100 back (50.16), 200 back (1:48.39) and the 200 IM (1:50.21).

Nick Tobler, freshman: Swims breast. Tobler won the 100 breast against Utah. Has conference-best time in the 200 breast (2:05.29).

Jeff Mason, sophomore: Swims free and IM. Mason won the 100 free against Washington, and won both the 50 and the 100 free against Utah.

Women Swimmers to Watch

Heidi Lietz, sophomore: Swims free and fly. Lietz won the 50 free against Washington. Has conference-best time in the 50 free (23.81).

Amy McClellan, freshman: Swims back and free. McClellan won the 200 back against Washington. Has conference-best time in the 200 back (2:05.92).

Jennifer Tasker, senior: Swims breast. Tasker won the 100 breast against Utah. Has conference-best time in the 100 breast (1:04.44).

Divers to Watch

Aaron Russell, sophomore: Russell won the 3-meter board against Washington and the 1-meter event against Utah. Has conference-best score on the 3M board (540.65).

Justin Wilcock, sophomore: Wilcock won the 1-meter event against Washington and the 3-meter board against Utah.

Kelli Einfeldt, sophomore: Einfeldt won both the 1-meter and the 3-meter events against Washington. Has conference-best score on the 3M board (465.70).

Anna Tutunnikova, senior: Tutunnikova won the 1-meter event against Utah.
