PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s golf will begin its spring season as the team attends the Arizona Intercollegiate this coming Friday and Saturday.

“After spending some time indoors, we are excited to get outside and play,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “The team has been working hard during the off season, and I look forward to watching the guys compete this spring and see how much we improve over the next few months. It all comes down to putting. If we can play smart, be patient and make a few putts then we can be competitive.”

The Arizona Intercollegiate will be played at Sewailo Golf Club in Tuscon, Arizona, and the field will consist of 16 teams from various conferences around the country. Santa Clara will represent the West Coast Conference along with BYU, and the University of Utah will also compete in the event. Teams will play three rounds of 54 holes playing 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday.

“I am hoping that we can take some baby steps this weekend and make big steps over the course of the semester. We will be working hard to make individual and team improvements, and this is a great event to get started,” said Brockbank.

BYU will tee off Friday at 8 a.m. MST in a shotgun start. Links to live stats can be found on the BYU men’s golf schedule page.

This spring, the Cougars are scheduled to compete in seven events and will host their final tournament of the season, the PING Cougar Classic, at Riverside Country Club April 11-12.
