BYU Defeats No. 50 Kansas State In Non-Conference Dual Meet
MADISON -- Using two come-from-behind doubles wins, the BYU women's tennis team defeated No. 50 Kansas State 5-4 in a non-conference dual match in Madison, Wisc., Friday.
With the teams splitting the singles matches, the difference in the match came in doubles when in number one doubles, junior Jodi Richardson and senior Kim Kelly came from behind to defeat Anna Pampoulova and Alena Jecminkova 8-6.
In number three doubles, Dominique Reynolds and Liza Khoudoiarova, both freshmen, defeated Kathy Chuda and Natalia Farmer 8-6.
The Wildcats took the number two doubles match with Petra Sedlmajerova and Eva Novotna defeating senior Eline Chiew and freshman Lu Oswald 8-5.
In singles, BYU won at number two, five and six. Richardson defeated Jecminkova 6-4, 6-4 at number two. Oswald defeated Chuda 6-4, 6-4 in number five singles while senior Tara Ferguson won 6-3, 6-3 over Farmer at number six singles.
The Cougars will next travel to face No. 12 Northwestern Saturday.
