2005 Scholar Athletes Named
PROVO -- Five members of the BYU women's softball team were named 2005 Scholar Athletes by the Student Athlete Academic Center. The five players were part of 292 Cougar athletes honored this year for their success in the classroom and on the field.
Scholar athlete Jen Whiteley headlined the group, which includes Krystle Chamberlain, Renae Clark, Deborah Dodds and Brooke Humbert. Whiteley was also named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team after swinging a hot bat in MWC play, posting a .413 average with 16 runs and two triples, and excelling in the classroom.
SAAC Scholar Athletes were required to earn a GPA of 3.2 or higher within the 2005 calendar year while contributing significantly to his/her team.
